AWOL gave me my first opportunity to work in graphic design. I joined the magazine in September of 2022 primarily as a writer. Soon after joining, AWOL’s EIC discovered a hole in the organization: no designers for the magazine. After hearing about this issue, I decided to step up to the challenge as I enjoyed art in high school and as a hobby and knew nobody else would do it if I didn’t. Since accepting the role, I have played a pivotal part in creating two magazines and growing the brand’s image. I am grateful every day that I took on this role, as I have now had the opportunity to grow AWOL’s design team to last after I graduate while discovering a new passion.
